MIXED GENES

was formed in the 80's, in San Diego and has evolved from its original version as a four/five-piece original (and cover) rock band, to its most recent version as an acoustic/electric duo performing rock/blues listening music for Atlanta area venues.

Mixed Genes is the musical marriage of Barbara Grillo-Jenkins, a folk/rock and jazz influenced singer and William Jenkins, a classically trained rock/blues/jazz guitarist. Mixed Genes might at times be a full sized jazz band performing in many rooms. Whether as a duo or full-sized band Mixed Genes is always a pleasure to experience.

Listen to the latest single “Snow Queen”

The song is "Snow Queen" a Carole King / Gerry Goffin song, first recorded in 1966 by The Roger Nichols Trio, then released by Carole's band, The City, in 1968 and then re-recorded in 1980 on her "Pearls- Songs of Goffin and King" album.

It's been covered by Blood Sweat and Tears, and who knows who else. Now it’s covered by Mixed Genes with a little help from their friends, Jez Graham on piano, Bruce Nifong on sax, David Penn on bass, and Stu Monsma on drums & percussion.

Everything was recorded virtually and mixed at Wilbar Studios, by Mixed Genes' guitarist and recording engineer extraordinaire, William Jenkins.
